Interrupted Start to Netball Season

After a start to the 2015 netball season which has seen a lack of continuity because of frequent wet weather and holidays throughout April, Arana Netball teams are hoping for a good run with games now. Fixtures recommenced in May, with make-up games for abandoned wet games also scheduled.

Arana teams continue to have mixed success as they play the various teams in their grades. At the end of the first round, teams will be considered for re-grading where it is obvious that any team is too weak or too strong for the grade they are playing in.

Quite a number of Arana teams were able to take part in a round robin intra-club morning in April to give players some game practice during the lengthy holiday break. This was held at the Club courts in Leslie Patrick Park. A junior coaching clinic (for nippers to 13 year olds) is also planned to be held at the courts on 3^rd June. More details will be given to the teams concerned closer to this event.

Arana teams enthusiastically supported Downey Park Netball’s Pink Day on 9^th May. This has become an annual event in the Downey Park calendar as a fund-raiser for the breast cancer cause. The Downey Park Netball club carnival is scheduled for Sunday 31^st May, and several Arana teams will nominate to compete in this.

Arana Netball Club is pleased to have received a GCBF grant (from the Department of Liquor and Gaming Regulation,) to purchase a P.A. system, projector, and a laptop with bag and software. These items will be of great benefit to the Club.

Arana Netball Club meetings are held on the third Monday of the month throughout the year. Meetings are open for all to attend, and parents and senior players are encouraged to attend meetings whenever possible, to know more about the running of the Club, and to contribute to the Club’s development. The next meetings are set for this Monday, 18^th May, and 15^th June. Meetings are held in the Arana Sports room at the Hills District Community Centre, Dawson Parade, Arana Hills, commencing at 7.30pm.
